Campus Recycling
Here is a list of great resources available to students to help either create or improve campus recycling programs.
Recycling and Beyond: A College Campus Primer
This primer was created through the University of Oregon and the Medical University of South Carolina and it is the complete package. The primer explains why the three R's are needed and has a section dedicated to teaching students how to set up recycling programs on their own campus. Don't be scared by the length, the index can help you jump to whatever section you would like. The University of Oregon is well known for its great recycling program, and now this resource allows other schools to follow in their footsteps.
The
University of Colorado Green Products Guide
The University of Colorado has created a list of green products that are commonly used on college campuses. Using this guide, students can find more environmentally friendly alternatives for their colleges to use. Green products categories include: paper products, office supplies, office equipment, cleaning products, office furniture, and small remodel supplies.
Dump and Run
Join countless other universities and colleges and reduce and reuse! Dump and Run is a nonprofit whose sole goal is to aid campuses in reducing the amount of waste that accrues when students move out of dorms and apartments. By setting up a garage-like sale of all of the material that is thrown away when students move out, Dump and Run can help you raise money and save a lot of things from the dumpster. Don't just focus on recycling cans and bottles, raise cash and awareness with Dump and Run! Apply on their website to have Dump and Run come to your school.
