Past Activities

Last year was the first semester that we started this group on campus. A group of us got involved with a mountain top removal documentary over the summer, titled "Topless America" www.toplessamerica.org

We started out the group by handing out free CFL lightbulbs, (courtesy of the city of chicago!) to all of the incoming freshman. We got 300 students to sign up! We held a beach clean up during the worlds largest beach cleanup with the Great Lakes Alliance. Two of our members went to PowerShift! We returned and got to work. We have a mini protest at school and the recycling group screened the 11th hour. We are now working with the recycleing group and the book and paper people to create recycled notebooks out of the recycled students work and office papers and stuff. We also sell them and hand painted and screen printed enviro-tshirts as fund raising to do more things with our group!

The recycling program has taken off. We already use 100% post comsumer bathroom paper products. And we are heading to a victory over our printer paper. The school buys 30% of their power from wind power.

Also, it is rumored the school is looking into solar capiblities without increasing tution!
